I saw Lear on Thursday 17th July (matinee). The sky was heavy with clouds, it drizzled a little and I was a groundling. The experience was unbelievable. David Calder's Lear has to be up with the best - ever! His humanity; the same experience as watching Mark Rylance as Richard 2, seeing Lear make mistakes and wanting to shout, 'don't do it' and the sense of fatalism at the end when it's all too late. Two more outstanding: Paul Copley as Kent and Trystan Gravelle as Edgar, never letting you forget you're watching two characters in one body and balancing both. The whole production is magnificent. I don't want to know how they did the blinding scene; ignorance is bliss. Miss this production and weep.

I am 15 years old and i came on a school trip and we came to watch it. I thought it was absolutely brilliant. We laughed, we cried, we screamed and we really enjoyed it. Edmund was incredible i loved his acting.
